The final negotiations for the Global Plastics Treaty are taking place next week. Civil society is working tirelessly to achieve an effective Treaty in the face of relentless lobbying from fossil fuel giants trying to hinder progress. That’s why, it's more important than ever to use the law to hold plastic polluters accountable.

At ClientEarth, we’re taking legal action against plastic polluters, including blocking Europe’s largest plastics project. Add your name to show support for our fight to stop plastic at the source.

In addition to the threats to wildlife and human health, plastic is catastrophic for the climate as it is made from fossil fuels, emitting greenhouse gases at every stage of production.

As our energy needs depend less and less on oil and gas, the world’s biggest fossil fuel companies are ramping up their investments in plastic.

Unless we act now, they will emit enough pollution to wreck the climate, and produce enough plastic that the ocean will have more of it than fish by 2050.

That’s why we’ve been using the law to fight plastic at the source, starting with British petrochemicals giant INEOS’s Project One.

We’re up against huge interests, as evidenced by the UK government’s £600 million backing of INEOS’s project.

But we know our legal fight has the support of everyday people like you, who want to pass on a healthier, more liveable planet to future generations.
