Nestlé Poland claims on many of its plastic bottles suggest that bottles can be endlessly recycled. But this simply isn’t true.
So we’re taking Nestlé Poland to court for greenwashing. Read more about the case >
The reality is recycling cannot make plastic environmentally neutral, let alone positive. There is no such thing as truly circular plastic. The process continuously degrades the properties of plastic, making ‘infinite’ recycling impossible. PET can only be recycled a maximum of 8 times in total. This means that recycling can only ever delay plastic pollution, not stop it.
These claims mislead consumers into thinking plastic products are environmentally friendly, with a recent Ipsos survey finding that 72% of consumers perceive plastic products that feature "fully recyclable" or "contains recycled plastic" labels as environmentally positive.
It’s time to put a stop to this.
Email Nestlé’s CEO now and demand Nestlé stops misleading consumers and cut down on its plastic use.
Together we can hold one of the world’s largest polluters accountable and fight for a cleaner, healthier planet.
